Brownfields Project
About the Project
West Central Arkansas Planning and Development District (WCAPDD) received a FY23 Brownfields Assessment Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to support environmental revitalization in Hot Springs and surrounding areas.
This funding enables WCAPDD to identify and assess properties that may be complicated by the presence—or potential presence—of hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants. The goal is to help communities safely return these properties to productive use and promote economic growth.
Properties will be selected for funding with intended redevelopment that creates a positive economic impact to the community and supports our goals and meets EPA funding requirements. The funds can be used for environmental site assessments which include Phase I ESA & Phase II ESA and cleanup planning when necessary. As a part of this program, WCAPDD is entitled to directly fund assessments that support redevelopment efforts.
