Regional Planning and CEDS
In order to qualify for federal funding assistance, all economic development projects must conform to the CEDS. The CEDS for the District’s ten-county region was originally prepared by WCAPDD and is updated and maintained by District staff. The updated report is submitted annually to the regional office of the Economic Development Administration for review and approval.
The District serves as a Regional Clearinghouse for all grant funding applications. This clearinghouse review aids in eliminating duplications or overlapping of efforts and assures that all proposed projects conform to the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy CEDS 2018.
The District maintains a directory of all sources of funding available in order to match the needs of member jurisdictions with the appropriate funding mechanism. As a service to members, the District prepares applications and/or provides technical assistance for applications, administration, and operation of grant funded projects.
The newest addition to the CEDS comes in 2021 and includes factors regarding COVID-19 and economic resiliency.
